freemarket is growing rapidly, and we welcome enquiries from likeminded investors who would like to share in our success.

Our platform is based on proprietary, scalable technology, and we occupy a unique space in the foreign exchange market, between low-value consumer exchanges and the corporate forwards, options, and derivatives market.

We are based in the heart of London’s FinTech industry, but our customer base is truly global.

Like us, our investors see the potential to transform our part of the foreign exchange market – by enabling members to exchange currency among themselves, at a fraction of the cost. If you would be interested in joining them, please get in touch.

Our board of directors

The freemarket board combines deep financial experience with innovation and technical expertise.

  • Rich Ricci - Chairman

Best known as a founding partner of Barclays Capital, Rich Ricci has been a leading global financial services executive for more than 20 years. He was a key member of the senior management team that achieved the turnaround of the world’s largest asset manager, Barclays Global Investors.

In 2008, Rich led the deal to purchase Lehman Brothers, and successfully integrated it into Barclays. He continued to be instrumental in driving the business forward through the global financial crisis before retiring from Barclays in 2013.

  • Alex Hunn - Founder & Chief Executive

Having spent 20 years developing and structuring foreign exchange solutions, Alex felt there should be a better way for people to exchange currencies – one that removed the old inefficiencies, challenged existing practices and focused on consistent low-level pricing.

Alex founded freemarket to create a democratic, efficient alternative to traditional exchange mechanisms. And today, freemarket’s network gives every member access to the infrastructure, information and pricing normally only available to the biggest institutions.

  • Fraser Davidson - Non-Exec Director

Fraser is an experienced private equity investor, specialising in media and technology companies.

Fraser founded Preparation Capital, a company helping young, emerging software and media businesses to develop strategic plans, go-to-market strategies and marketing initiatives. Prior to Preparation Capital, Fraser spent eight years investing in companies valued between £10m and £100m.

  • Charlotte Croswell - Non-Exec Director

Charlotte is the current interim-CEO of Innovate Finance, an independent not-for-profit membership association representing the UK’s global FinTech community.

Charlotte brings extensive experience of leadership and strategic advice in investment, finance and foreign exchange settings. Between 2013 and 2016, she was both CEO at Nasdaq NLX and a board director at the LCH. She was formerly Head of Nasdaq International, and Head of International Business Development at the London Stock Exchange.
